Glitter Emergency

Weekends are great for time in the studio to discover new color combinations. I used a Wallovers stencil, Stephanie's Damask (named after my daughter Stephanie). Wallovers is the stencil company I started with my friend and coworker Rena Paris. We painted so many patterns together we decided to turn it into a business. The stencils are so easy to use that you don't need to be a professional to get great results!!
Today I decided to experiment with some Martha Stewart glitter. Although glitter makes a total mess in the studio it  also makes a wall spectacularly cool. This stencil, however is done in 2 passes and I ran out of glitter after the first pass. Time to jump in the car and race to Michael's,
(which is a good 25 minute drive from the studio). Running out of glitter in the middle of a project is like running our of olive oil in the middle of cooking! Not good.

Well, here's how it came out. Worth the trip!

Abstract Art is So Much Fun!

Wow, I can't believe how quickly you bloggers checked in! I hope I can keep up with you. Today I am working on contemporary, abstract art for a corporate office. Abstract has never been my thing but I gave it a try. working in abstract is a blast. The materials fly around the studio. It's like letting loose in a great yoga dance class where everyone is doing something different. Totally freeing to splash around with color texture and whatever medium I can find on the shelf or floor.
Here's one I finished for my husband's ( here on in referred to as Joel) office.

A total mess but I could do this full time!!

Welcome to my blog

OK.  I lay in bed every night and say "I should have a blog" about what I am creating in my studio because there's a lot of cool stuff. So today's the first day.  I've been a decorative artist for 15 years so everyday something new comes out of the studio, like stencil deigns, new finishes, hand painted denim,  even jewelry out of the kiln.  Here's a picture of the studio.  Can't wait to see what comes out of here tomorrow!
